2018 Season Preview: Impact Players- Outfielders
Brennen Davis- Basha HS: Brennen signed with the University of Miami in November. The 6-4 175 pound outfielder burst onto the scene last spring with the Bears and was named to the Reds Area Code Team over the summer. He’s incredibly athletic with a rangy, projectable body that should add significant strength over the next few years. He’s more of an athlete than a baseball player right now, but the upside potential has MLB Area Scouts paying very close attention.
James Gamble- Greenway HS: James had a huge junior year for the Demons, batting .538 and slamming 12 homers. He’s a burner on the base paths as well (6.6 runner), and can cover a ton of ground in center field. He had a solid summer and fall with the AZ Athletics and signed with UNLV in November.
Bobby Peirce- Arcadia HS: Possibly the best uncommitted bat available in Arizona, Bobby had a big junior year at Arcadia, hitting .362 with 3 bombs, 4 triples and 8 doubles while swinging a wood bat all season. He also was a member of the 2017 state champion Titan golf team, posting a 2 day total of 142 to place 6th in the state individually. You can see the golf background in the swing, where his hands release the barrel to the baseball with great bat speed. He has super strong hands, is a 6.8 runner and has above average arm strength.
Griffin Hampton- Chaparral HS: Another top shelf uncommitted outfielder, Griffin has big time bloodlines and a lot of athleticism. He hit .424 in 2017 with 12 extra base hits. In the summer and fall he was a big time performer for TRex Baseball.
Tyler Cranston- Notre Dame Prep: An extremely high energy player with a surprising amount of juice in the bat, Tyler signed with Elon University in November. He is a plus runner (6.56 in the 60 at the AZDR Fall Showcase) with a good arm (86 MPH from the OF). He hit .398 last season and swiped 27 bags.
Jake Jarvis- Basha HS: Jake didn’t get on the field much last season for the Bears, but he showed off a ton of bat speed this fall with the DBacks Scout Team. He will be one of the most dangerous left handed bats in the state this spring. Jake signed with grand Canyon in November.
Jake Plecas- Coconino HS: Jake is a physical 6-2 175 player who will add a lot of strength over the next couple of years. He’s capable of handling all 3 outfield positions, running a 6.7 in the 60 with a strong accurate arm. Last season Jake led the Panthers in virtually every hitting category hitting .438 with 15 extra base hits and 35 RBIs. He had a very good summer and fall playing with Wilson Sandlot. Jake has signed with Utah Valley University.
Ben Nemivant – Notre Dame Prep: Ben had a solid junior season for the Saints, hitting .381 with 7 doubles. But it was during the summer that he really caught my eye, performing very well against top shelf pitching at the Connie Mack World Series Qualifier. He ‘s a left handed bat who slashes line drives to all fields and is an above average runner. Ben has signed with D1 Pacific University in the West Coast Conference.
Marcel Bachelier- Nogales HS: A University of Arizona signee, Marcel hit .393 with 17 extra base hits for the Apaches. He has a sweet left handed swing and can play all 3 outfield positions. He’ll also help out on the mound this spring.
Matt Novis- Corona del Sol HS: Matt is one of the state’s top 2 way performers. He’s a right handed pitcher who works in the upper 80’s. As an outfielder, Matt is a 6.8 runner with a big arm (89 MPH velo). He has a lot of wiry strength in his 6-0 170 pound frame. The swing is balanced and the barrel stays in the zone. He was a big time performer for All Star Baseball Academy last summer and fall.Matt has signed with Yavapai College.
Rocky Botello- Buckeye HS: On of the fastest players in the state, Rocky ran a 6.46 60 yard dash at the AZDR Fall Showcase. He hit .500 last season and stole 24 bases.
Holden Boyce- Desert Mountain HS: A switch hitter with good athleticism, Holden is a guy that could very well have a break out senior season. He’s been a solid performer on the club team circuit but has yet to leave his mark on the DM program. That could change this year. He has a solid swing from both sides of the plate, is a good defensive outfielder and has some strength to his 6-0 180-pound frame.
Jan Rollon- Skyline HS: Jan is a top of the order catalyst type of player who handles the bat very well. A left handed hitter, Jan hit .391 for the Coyotes last spring and swiped 15 bags.
Demetrio Botello- Buckeye HS: Like his twin brother Rocky, Demetrio is a burner (6.5) . He hit .365 last season with 12 stolen bases.
Will Fuenning- Chaparral HS: Will’s a physical 6-3 200 pound outfielder who came on big for the Firebirds as a junior. He hit .346 last season and has continued to develop his game over the summer and fall with TRex Baseball.

Gerardo Hernandez- San Luis HS: Gerardo had a big sophomore season for the Sidewinders, hitting .427 and stealing 15 bases. There’s a lot of power potential in the left handed swing. At 6-0 160 he has a lot of room to add strength.
