2019 Season Preview: Impact Players- Infielders
Colton McIntosh- Shadow Mountain : The University of Arizona signee hit .362 as a junior with only 5 strike outs in 105 plate appearances. He’s also a low 90s guy on the hill and should get some attention from evaluators there as well.
Brian Kalmer- Corona del Sol HS: Brian went deep 9 times last season with 10 doubles and hit .462 for the Aztecs. He’s an ASU signee.
Gerardo Hernandez- San Luis HS: Hernandez hit .407 last season with 3 homers, 3 doubles and 6 triples. He’s very athletic and a potent left handed bat as well as a high 80s guy on the mound.
Noah Burgarello- O’Connor HS: Noah is a slick defender who continues to add quality strength to his frame. He hit. 301 last year. Noah is a University of Utah signee.
Nathan Baez- Ironwood Ridge HS: Nathan hit .355 with 11 doubles and a pair of homers last year. He has signed with Arizona State.
Jorge Bojorquez- Nogales HS: Athletic with a lot of wiry strength to his frame, Jorge hit .393 with 17 doubles for the Apaches. He has signed with Sacramento State.
Will Worthington- Brophy Prep: The University of San Diego signee hit .319 last season and is a solid glove guy at short for the Broncos.
Justin Flebbe- Kellis HS: Justin is a 3 year starter at 1B for the Cougars and will also be a key left handed arm on the mound. He hit .424 with 5 homers and 12 doubles last season.
Holden Breeze- Mesquite HS: One of the top competitors in the 2019 class, Holden is a grinder who hit .333 last year with 14 doubles. He has signed with South Mountain CC.
Ty Mead- Cactus Shadows HS: Ty is a physical middle infielder with some thump in the bat. Last season he hit .363 with 9 doubles. He’s a Utah Valley University signee.
Terrell Hudson- Goldwater HS: Terrell is a physical specimen at 6-4 250. He batted . 430 last year and cranked 7 homers with 9 doubles. He will also jump on the hill and work in the lower ‘90s. Terrell has signed with the University of New Mexico.
Grant Gorrell- Mesquite HS: Grant’s a hard nosed competitor with a super high baseball IQ. Last spring he hit .333 and only punched out 7 times in 136 plate appearances. He is a Boise State signee.
Mason Skaugrud- O’Connor HS: One of the top left handed bats in the 2019 class, Mason hit .381 for the Eagles while starting at 1B . Rumor has it that he may be moving behind the dish for SDO in 2019. Mason is a Utah Valley signee.
Ty Siffermann- Basha HS: Ty started at SS for the Bears last season but will move back to center field this year. The Grand Canyon signee batted .338 last year and is one of the state’s top 2 sport athletes.
Austin Sample- Apache Junction HS: A real under the radar guy who has one of the better left handed swings in the class. He’ll be a corner guy at the next level, but there’s plenty of pop in the bat to get him on the field. Austin is a Minot State signee.
Julian de Alva- Ironwood Ridge HS: Julian batted .372 with 8 2b and 17 stolen bases and did not make an error all year. He was a 1st Team All Region performer in 2018.
CJ Valdez- Perry HS: A University of Northern Colorado signee, CJ hit .313 last year with 11 doubles.
Jesus “Chuy” Lopez– Nogales HS: A big physical bat for the Apaches, Chuy batted .330 with 9 doubles last season. He has signed with Pepperdine.
Jake Schulz- Prescott HS: Jake is another top 2 way performer for Prescott. He batted .299 last season. Jake has signed with Dixie State.
Cameron Pehrson- Campo Verde HS: Another one of the state’s most under the radar guys, Cameron came onto the scene big time last season, hitting .426 and pounding out 13 doubles and 3 homers. He will also be a key performer on the mound for the Coyotes.
AJ Herrera- Skyline HS: AJ will be a 4 year starter for the Coyotes. He is an excellent defender at 1B and is athletic enough to move to the outfield when needed. AJ hit .457 last season for Skyline. He is also a top shelf student with a 4.5 GPA.
Nolan Brooks- Pinnacle HS: Nolan is a slick fielding 2B with good speed who handles the bat well. He has signed with the University of Evansville.

Carson Tucker- Mountain Pointe HS: One of the better SS prospects this area has produced in several years, Carson has silky smooth infield actions and plenty of arm to stay at the position at the next level. He hit .418 last season with 9 doubles and 6 triples. He was a member of the Arizona Junior Sunbelt team last summer. Carson has committed to the University of Texas.
Hunter Haas- Corona del Sol HS: Hunter is another solid SS prospect for the next level. He had a big sophomore year, with a team leading .479 average with 7 doubles and 2 homers. Hunter is an Oregon State commit.
Jacob Berry- Queen Creek HS: Jacob is a very physical player who has the juice to drive the ball out of any park in the state. He homered 5 times with 6 doubles last season. He also showed excellent plate discipline, drawing 26 walks in 106 plate appearances while punching out only 5 times. Jacob is a University of Arizona commit.
Ryland Zaborowski- Basha HS: At 6-6 and 215 pounds, Ryland is an imposing figure for sure, but he’s extremely athletic and very capable of defending at either 3B or 1B at the next level. At the plate he uses the field well and has outstanding power potential. Ryland is a Grand Canyon commit.
Tyler Wilson- Hamilton HS: Tyler is still recovering from a shoulder injury and will play 1st base for the Huskies this spring before hopefully returning behind the plate as a senior. He’s a premier left handed bat with a lot of power. Tyler is a Grand Canyon commit.
Efrain Manzo- Chandler HS: Efrain hit .367 with 13 doubles and 4 homers last spring. He had a very productive summer and fall where he showed a ton of power playing for T- Rex. Efrain has recently committed to Santa Clara.
Drew Bond- Sunnyslope HS: Drew is a very athletic defender who has the tools to play either middle infield spot after high school. He’s also a hi 80s guy on the hill for the Vikings. Drew has committed to Gonzaga University.
Griffen Chewning- Notre Dame Prep: Griffen started at shortstop for the Saints last season and handled himself very well. A 2 sport athlete, he should be a key piece to the Saints lineup this spring. He has an aggressive, balanced swing that keeps the barrel in the zone a long time.
Trevor Long- Chaparral HS: Plays 3B primarily for the Firebirds and very capable of moving to the outfield if needed. He has a big boy arm across the infield and will also jump on the bump and flash high 80s velo. He has a lot of bat speed and should improve on his sophomore numbers of .385 with 4 homers and 8 doubles. Trevor is a University of Arizona commit.
Travis Warriner- Mountain Ridge HS: Travis is a slick fielding middle guy who handles the bat well. He hit .329 last season with 6 doubles.
Colton Kucera- O’Connor HS: A very versatile, athletic player, Colton should play 3B for the Eagles but can move to the outfield if needed. He has good speed, a lot of wiry strength to his frame, and plays with a ton of energy.
Tyler Stone- Chaparral HS: Tyler burst on the scene last spring as the starting 1st baseman for the ‘birds. He batted .393 with 3 homers and 7 doubles. He has top end bat speed from the left side of the plate. He will also be a mid to high 80s guy as a RHP for Chap. Tyler is a University of New Mexico commit.
Bitner Workman- Basha HS: Bitner will take over at short for the Bears this spring. He’s really come on in the off season physically and should have a big junior year.
