AZ Teams Advance in Boras Classic
Michael Brueser doubled 3 times and went 4-5 to pace a 14 hit Hamilton attack as the Huskies downed Mountain Vista (CO) 12-1 in the Boras Classic.
Dustin Bermudez scattered 4 hits and fanned 6 over 6 innings on the hill to pick up the win.
He also went 3-3 at the plate with a double.
Corona del Sol 3 Cottonwood (UT) 2
Corona del Sol rallied for 3 runs in the 6th inning to take a 3-2 win over Cottonwood (UT) in the Boras Classic.
The Aztecs struggled to do much offensively against Cottonwood 202 lefty Ross Dunn (Kentucky commit).
Dunn tossed 5 shutout innings , allowing only 3 hits and fanned 5.
In the 6th Cottonwood went to the bullpen with a 2-0 lead, and the Aztecs came alive.
Cade Verdusco and Bryan Webb opened the inning with consecutive singles,and when Hunter Haas’ ground ball was misplayed, Verdusco scored to cut the lead in half.
Brian Kalmer was next, and the senior cranked a long drive into the parking lot to give the Aztecs a 3-2 lead.
Corona’s Wyatt Bauer threw 6 2/3 innings. allowing only 5 singles and 2 runs to earn the win.
Mountain Pointe 9 Arcadia 1
Joey Cammarata punched out 8 and allowed only 2 hits in 5 innings of work as Mountain Pointe defeated Arcadia 9-1 in the Boras Classic. Cammarata was also 1-3 at the plate with 2 RBIs.
Nick Wallerstedt was 2-3 with a double, triple and an RBI.
Kellen Slade had a a pair of hits for Arcadia.
Mesquite 13 Legend (CO) 6
Mesquite hung a 3rd inning 9 spot and rolled to a 13-6 win over Legend (CO) in Boras Classic play.
TJ Clarkson, Holden Breeze and Jayden Orozco all drove in 3 runs for the Wildcats.
Cayden Rana went 5 innings on the bump to earn the win.
Andrick Jones tossed 2 scoreless in relief.
Liberty 2 Horizon 0
Chandler Murphy tossed a no- hitter with 10 punch outs as Liberty blanked Horizon 2-0.
Kyle Lewis was 2-3 for Libert and drove in both runs.
Luke Pauga was 2-3 with a double.
Nogales 6 Verrado 0
Mathew Bachelier threw a complete game 6 inning shutout as Nogales blanked Verrado 6-0.
Jorge Bojorquez was 2-4 with a pair of doubles.
Alec Acevedo and Kenneth Jimenez were both 2-3.
Chaparral 3 Basic (NV) 2
Clark Candiotti allowed only 2 hits over 6 innings of mound work as Chaparral topped Basic (NV) 3-2 in the Boras Classic.
Ethan Hott’s 4th inning 2 run homer proved to be the game winner.
Teagan Carey had a pair of hits and scored a run for the Firebirds.
Casteel 11 Marana Mountain View 1
Casteel took advantage of 4 Mountain View errors and 8 walks to take an 11-1 win.
Eli Ludwig was 2-3 with a double, triple and 2 RBIs.
Tyler Moore worked 6 innings for the win.
Chandler 3 Tucson 0
Nate Rohlicek tossed 6 shutout innings, allowing only 2 hits with 7 Ks as Chandler topped Tucson High 3-0.
Rohlicek also helped his cause by going 2-3 with a double and a run scored.
Efrain Manzo had a solo homer for the Wolves.
Pinnacle 5 Boulder Creek 4 ( 8 Inn)
Pinch hitter John Lauinger drew a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the 8th inning to give Pinnacle a 5-4 win over Boulder Creek.
The game featured a solid pitching match up with Pinnacle’s Max Kendall facing off with BC’s Logan Deskin.
Deskin would work 6 1/3 innings, allowing 4 hits and 3 runs before departing at his pitch limit.
Kendall tossed 5 frames, allowing 6 hits and 4 runs, 2 of which were unearned.
Luke Marine got the win in relief for Pinnacle, tossing 3 scoreless innings and allowing only 1 hit.
The Pioneers rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th to send it to extras.
Jack Jepson and Jackson Moltz each had 2 hits for Pinnacle.
Kolby Kmetko had an RBI double.
Connor Lawrence was 3-4 for and Cody Clark was 2-4 with a double for BC.
Kellis 2 Higley 0
Justin Flebbe tossed a complete game shutout to lead Kellis to a 2-0 win over Higley.
Flebbe punched out 7 and allowed only 4 hits.
Flebbe out dueled Higley’s Mason Gehling, who allowed only one hit and 2 unearned runs with 7 Ks.
O’Connor 11 Valley Vista 3
O’Connor used a 7 run second inning and a Cal Lambert complete game to take an 11-3 win over Valley Vista.
Lambert punched out 7 and scattered 5 hits for the win.
Mason Skaugrud cranked a 3 run homer for SDO.
Amari Bartee was 2-4 with 3 RBIs.
Tolleson 11 Cesar Chavez 8
Tolleson rallied for 4 runs in the top of the 7th to take an 11-8 win over Cesar Chavez.
Ramon Velasco went 3-4 with 2 triples, 4 runs scored and 3 RBIs for T-Town.
Ramon Ramirez and Joel Galvez combined on the hill for the W.
Galvez threw 3 innings and allowed only 1 run to eanr the W in relief.
Sunnyslope 5 Greenway 1
Josh Combs tossed 6 innings with 8 Ks to lead Sunnyslope to a 5-1 win over Greenway.
Gavin Acosta was 2-4 with 2 RBIs for the Vikes.
For Greenway, Gerry Lopez threw 6 innings and fanned 7.
