Cade Verdusco- Corona del Sol 2020 OF: I knew Cade was a top prospect after seeing him this summer with Canyon Thunder, and he did nothing to disappoint. Putting up top 5 numbers in all 3 testing criteria is pretty impressive, but when you look to the future you know there is so much more to come as Cade’s body continues to develop. He has a loose athletic swing at the plate that generates very good bat speed.
Bitner Workman- Basha HS 2020 IF: A switch hitter with some juice, Bitner put up exit velos of 86 MPH right handed and 83 MPH from the left side. He keeps the barrel in the zone a long time and gets good extension. He has a rangy athletic body that he is still growing into. Showed very good infield actions and threw 75 across the diamond while running a 7.14 60.
Jaxson Carrasco- Casteel HS 2020 OF: Jaxson ran the fastest 60 time at 6.84. At 5-7 140 he has some growing to do to add strength to his frame, but he threw 80 MPH from the OF. He has a nice looking swing path with a lot of looseness in his upper half.
Logan Deskin- Boulder Creek 2020 RHP /OF: Showed some arm strength from the outfield, and he gets into a good hitting position at the plate, but I liked him most on the mound. He has a quick arm that was 77-80 on the gun. Flashed a 2 plane slurvish breaking ball that had some decent depth to it.
Bryan Webb- Corona del Sol 2020 LHP/1B: Performed very well with the bat both in testing (80 MPH Exit velo) and in the BP segment, where he lined balls consistently. He has quick hands and as the body continues to develop there’s more power to come. He’s a very athletic first baseman who can really pick it. I like him most on the bump where he’s currently 74-76 from the left side with an athletic balanced delivery. He’ll drop down sidearm for some added deception. His change up is exceptional. He does anexcellent job of maintaining arm speed and gets very good arm side fade.
CJ Glenn- Casteel HS 2020 C/1B/RHP: A physical 6-1 190, CJ showed well at 1B and behind the plate. He posted pop times of 2.0 with 75 MPH velo, very respectable for a sophomore. The swing is a bit long and around the baseball at times, but he has quick hands and bat speed (82 exit velo). I’m not sure that the future isn’t on the mound , though. He worked at 83-85 with heavy run and sink with the fastball. Arm slot is ¾ and he snapped off a couple of curveballs at 71 MPH that need some firming up but show promise.
Hunter Haas- Corona del Sol HS 2020 MIF: A very slick glove guy with sweet infield actions and athletic feet, Hunter has grown a lot physically since the spring. He ran a 7.3 60 and was 81 MPH off the tee. The Oregon State commit is a top player in this class for sure.
Kyle Ponzo- Hamilton HS 2020 RHP/1B: Kyle looked good defensively at 1B and was 80 across the diamond. At the plate he showed good bat speed. He gets good separation and generates some loft. Exit velo was 83. I liked him a lot on the mound. At 6-4 185 he has a projectable frame to die for. He was up to 85 with the fastball with good downhill plane. He showed a nice change up at 77-78 with good fade and a decent breaking ball at 69-71.
Brysen Hamilton- Valley Vista HS 2020 C/1B/RHP: Another physical young player at 6-1 190. Showed off a loose athletic swing. He gets in a good hitting position and generates bat speed (exit velo 84). Very good future power potential. Hard worker who spent most of the night behind the plate. Good receiving skills with a respectable 2.09 pop time.
Trevor Desiderio- Hamilton HS 2020 1B/3B: Trevor is a 6-3 225 pound corner infielder who has surprising athleticism for his size. His feet work well at 1B and he threw 80 MPH across the infield. At the plate his lower half works very well and he generates bat speed . Exit velo was 85.Big time future power potential here.
Carson Baker- Liberty HS 2021 OF/LHP: The only 2021 player to be top 10 in all 3 testing phases. He’s very athletic with arm strength (81 from the OF). Handles the bat well with good feel to hit and separation.
Aaron Limon- Liberty HS 2021 MIF/RHP: He ran a 7.49 60 but he’s faster than that and certainly plays much quicker. Very slick glove guy with soft hands and quick feet. Arm was 74 across diamond. Quick hands at the plate with bat speed (85 MPH Exit velo)
Testing results for all players will be available this week.
