Bahn, Toros Walk Off Hamilton
There will be no 3 Peat in Arizona 6A Baseball.
Erick Bahn lined a base hit to left field in the bottom of the 8th inning to score Dallas Wise with the walk off game winner as Mountain View edged Hamilton 6-5.
The Toros trailed 5-2 entering the bottom of the 6th inning, and after Isaac McNaughton drew a lead off walk, Hamilton starter Trey Goodrich got a punch out and a ground out to second for the first 2 outs of the inning.
But Tyler Barnes knocked in McNaughton with a line drive single to right field and would score on Bahn’s RBI single to center field to make it 5-4.
McKay Barney followed with a hard grounder to first that caromed off 1st Baseman Hayden Baker’s glove, scoring Bahn with the tying run.
Bahn ended the night 3-4 with a pair of RBIs and 2 runs scored.
The Toros used 4 pitchers on the night.
Wise earned the W in relief, tossing 2 1/3 innings of scoreless, hitless ball and fanning 3.
The Toros will advance to play Mountain Ridge on Friday night at Diablo Stadium.
Skyline 6 Brophy 3
Skyline hammered out 13 hits to take a 6-3 win over Brophy and advance in the 6A State Tournament.
The Coyotes trailed 1-0 entering the bottom of the third inning, and after a pair of ground outs, Jan Rollon lined a single to center. Tyler Jackson followed and was drilled by a pitch, and Kade York walked to load the bases.
Eric Olson then stepped in and lined a single to center that got under the glove of Troy Weinstein, clearing the bases and giving Skyline a 3-1 lead.
Skyline would go on to score solo runs in the 4th, 5th and 6th frames.
Cole Yocum tossed 4 2/3 innings for the win, but hit his pitch count limit in the 5th frame.
Austin Wells threw well in relief, allowing only 2 hits in 2 1/3 innings and punching out 4.
Jackson was 3-3 with a double, 2 runs scored and an RBI.
Skyline will face off with O’Connor on Friday at Diablo Stadium.
