Chaparral Gets Opening Day No-No To Drop Gilbert
Andrew Carroll and Ryan Klotnia combined on a no hitter on opening day 2020 as Chaparral blanked Gilbert 1-0.
Carroll tossed 5 innings, punched out 8 and did not walk a batter.
Klotnia worked 2 scoreless frames, fanning 3 with no walks.
The Firebirds managed only 4 hits of their own against Tiger pitching.
Chaparral broke through for the game’s lone run in the third inning when Kade Carney’s pop fly in short left field was dropped. Two batters later Enzo Apodaca sent a towering drive to deep center field for a double and a 1-0 Chap lead.
