Mountain View Holds off Mesa
Mountain View held off a late Mesa High rally to take a 5-4 win on Monday afternoon.
The Toros led 5-2 entering the bottom of the 7th, but a lead off walk and a hit batsman put a pair of runners on. An infield error and an RBI base hit would make it 5-4 with the tying run in scoring position. But Clark Barney was able to coax a ground out for the game’s final out.
MVT’s Mason Krause tossed 4 2/3 innings and allowed only 2 hits and a solo unearned run to get the W.
Cole Yocum punched out 12 in 6 innings of work and allowed only 2 hits to lead Skyline to a 6-3 win over Dobson.
Josh Gonzales doubled and knocked in 2 runs for the Coyotes.
Red Mountain hosted Westwood and handed the Warriors a 10-0 mercy rule loss in 6 innings.
Kai Murphy went the distance, fanning 7 and scattering 8 hits.
Randy Hutson, Luke Hyzdu and Riley Pagel all had 2 hits. Pagel drove in 3 runs.
Kellis used a 4 run 4th inning to break up a one run game and send the Cougars to a 9-4 win over Maricopa.
Brett Kuest put the Cougs up 3-2 in the bottom f the first with a bases clearing 3 RBI double.
Justin Flebbe added a solo tank for Kellis,a dn got the W on the mound allowing 9 hits in 5 1/3 innings with 5 Ks.
Sunnyslope completed the sweep of region foe McClintock on Monday 4-0.
Sophomore Drew Bond threw a complete game 1 hit shutout with 9 strikeouts.
Bond also paced the way offensively going 2-4 with a run scored.
Jack Yancey and Gus Goettl both had knocks and RBI’s for ‘slope.
