QC Holds off Chaparral
Queen Creek jumped out to a 5-0 3rd inning lead and held off a late Chaparral rally to take a 6-5 victory at the QC.
The Bulldogs got on the board early in the bottom of the first when lead off hitter Kevon Jackson singled and Jacob Berry and Ryan Dobbs walked to load the bases.
Danny Marshall followed with a double to center field to score to score Jackson and Berry. Gabe Heitz the grouded out, scoring Marshall to make it 3-0.
In the bottom of the third Colton Cassinelli walked to lead off the inning and Jacob Berry followed with a missile over the right center field fence to make it 5-0.
After another walk to Dobbs, Chap went to the pen, bringin in junior right hander Mason Dillow. Dillow promptly picked Dobbs off first, got a swinging strike out by Marshalkl , and coaxed a ground out from Heitz to end the inning.
Dillow would quiet the Creek bats for the next 2 innings while the ‘birds got on the board with a pair in the 4th courtesy of a Tyler Stone 2 RBI double.
QC would add what turned out to be a big insurance run in the bottom of the 6th when Jackson singled in a run.
In the top of the 7th, trailing 6-2, Trevor Long led off for Chap with a walk. After a pair of punch outs, Gage Hampton would single, and Will Fuenning would line a knock to center to score Long. Stone stepped in next and dropped a 2 RBI single to center to draw the ‘birds within a run.
With the tying run aboard, Joey Cammaratta came on to pinch hit and fanned to end the game.
QC starter Donovan Lopex earned the win, allwoing 2 runs in 4 inings. Cassinelli tossed 3 innings in relief, allwoing 3 earned runs.
Dillow was excellent in relief for Chaparral, working 4 innings, allowing 4 hits and a solo run.
Berry was 2-2 with a double a homer and a walk.
Jackson was 3-4 at the top of the order for the ‘dogs.
Stone was 2-4 with a double and 4 RBIs for Chap.
Notre Dame jumped out to an early 6-0 lead and cruised in with a 10-3 win over Saguaro.
Ben Nemivant was 2-4 with a double, a homer, 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
Joe Terlizzi added a apir of knocks and drove in 3 for the Saints.
Jared Farquhar went 4 2/3 innings and allowed 5 hits and 3 runs to earn the victory.
Justin Jarvis was 3-3 for Saguaro.
Catalina Foothills used 7 hits and took advantage of 11 walks to pound Marana 16-3.
Alec Larson was 2-3 with a double and 3 RBIs.
Sunnyslope took down Verrado 4-1 behind a complete game 3 hitter from Sophomore Tommy Bonetto.
Bonetto gave up 3 hits, 6 k’s and 1r.
Drew Bond paced the way for the ‘slope offense going 2-3 w/ 2 RBI ‘s and a run.
Casey Markham, Jack Yancey, and Ben Wallace also had knocks.
Apollo hammered out 15 hits to take a 15-5 win over Willow Canyon.
Jesus Moreno was 3-4 with a pair of double and 4 RBIs for the hawks.
Omar Rocha was 2-2 with a triple and 3 RBIs.
Guillermo Rivera alowed 3 runs in 4 innings with 5 Ks for the win.
Mountain Ridge used a 15 hit attack to take a 15-2 win over Cesar CHavez in 5 innings.
Ryan Ellis was 2-3 with a triple and 3 RBIs.
Mitchael Dyer had a 3 hit game for Ridge.
Jacob Robson was 3-3 with a double, 3 runs scored and 3 RBIs.
Easton Jacob threw 5 shutout innings, allowing only 2 hits and fanning 5 as Higley took a 3-2 win over Moon Valley.
Cameron Jung was 2-3 for the Knights.
