San Luis Rallies Late to Eliminate Pinnacle
San Luis 5 Pinnacle 3
San Luis rallied for 3 runs in the top of the 7th to defeat Pinnacle 5-3.
San Luis starter Christopher Bazua threw a complete game, doing a masterful job of pitching backwards and hitting spots.
Bazua scattered 5 hits and allowed 3 runs,, only one of which was earned. He fanned 6 and walked 1.
Pinnacle starter Max Kendall matched Bazua for 5 innings, allowing only 4 hits and 4 unearned runs due to some shaky defensive work.
The Sidewinders scored a pair of runs in the 3rd with 2 outs when Pinnacle first baseman Jackson Moltz lost a throw in the sun, allowing 2 runs to score.
Pinnacle plated a run in the 4th when Nolan Brooks led doff with a single and scored on a Dillon Dougherty knock.
In the bottom of the 6th Jack Jepson singled to lead off the inning, moved around to third and scored when Dougherty’s 2 out grounder was misplayed by shortstop Gerardo Hernandez to tie it at 2.
Moltz the dropped a pop fly single into center to score a run and give the Pioneers a 3-2 lead.
In the top of the 7th Bazua led off the inning and reached on an infield error.
Sophomore Ohan Zabalza then laid down a beautiful bunt and legged it out for a hit, with Bazua advancing to third.
Hernandez then sent a fly ball to center, scoring Bazua with the tying run.
With 2 outs, Kike Gutierrez chopped ball to third and beat out the throw.
Alexis Castaneda followed with an almost identical ball and reached, scoring Zabalza with the lead run.
Gabriel Valenzuela the lined a ball to right to knock in Gutierrez and make it 5-3.
Chaparral 4 Queen Creek 4 (Suspended after 8 Inn)
Chaparral and Queen Creek battled to a 4-4 tie in a game suspended due to darkness after 8 innings.
Chap tied the game at 4 in the bottom of the 6th when Tristan Regan singled in a run and Enzo Apodaca’s sacrifice fly scored Jackson Grace with the tying run.
Chap starter Andrew Carroll tossed 5 innings and allowed 5 hits and 4 runs, 2 of which were earned.
QC ‘s Jacob Alexander worked 4 innings and allowed 4 hits and 2 runs.
Mountain Ridge 6 Brophy 0
Zach Martinez threw a complete game 4 hit shutout as Mountain Ridge blanked Brophy 6-0.
The Mountain Lions scored 2 in the 2nd and 4 in the 4th to account for the scoring.
AJ Singer and Brock Arnold each drove in 2 runs.
Liberty 12 Chavez 2
Luke Pauga was 2-3 with a double, 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored to lead Liberty over Cesar Chavez 12-2.
Kyle Roop allowed only 2 runs in 5 1/3 innings to get the W.
Desert Vista 9 Tolleson 8 (8 Inn)
Desert Vista scored 4 runs in the top of the 8th inning and held off a Tolleson rally in the bottom of the inning to take a 9-8 win
Dylan Cuenca doubled, homered and had 3 runs scored and 2 RBIs.
Kaden Moore was 4-4 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored.
Perry 7 Tucson 5
Perry scored 2 runs in each of the first 3 innings and held on for a 7-5 win over Tucson High.
CJ Valdez was 2-4 with a double, homer and 2 RBIs.
Adam Parra drove in 3 runs and was 2-3 with a double.
Skyline 4 Mesa 1
Brandon Melendez and Eric Olson combined on the bump as Skyline topped Mesa 4-1.
Melendez allowed a solo run over 4 innings and surrendered only 3 hits.
Olson got the W in relief, throwing 3 scoreless innings.
Mountain Pointe 5 Cibola 1
Joey Cammarata fanned 8 in 6 shutout innings and allowed only one hit as Mountain Pointe defeated Cibola 5-1.
Cammarata was also 2-3 at the plate with a double and an RBI.

Guillermo Rivera singled in a pair of runs in the bottom of the 7th to send Apollo to a 9-8 walk off win over Goldwater.
Cactus shadows 9 Willow Canyon 1
Wyatt McLaughlin allowed only 1 run on 3 hiuts in 5 innngs on te hill as Cactus Shadows topped Willow Canyon 9-1.
Ethan Bell threw 2 scoreless innings in relief.
Peter Waters homered for the Falcons and Ty Mead was 3-3 with 3 runs scored.
Notre Dame 6 Higley 2
Sophomore lefty Max Zdimal threw 4 2/3 innings and surrendered 3 hits and 2 runs as Notre Dame topped Higley 6-2.
Zdimal was also 2-4 with a double and 2 RBIs at the plate.
Paradise Valley 2 Cienega 1
Peyton Teed threw a complete game to lead Paradise Valley over Cienega 2-1.
Teed allowed only 3 hits and fanned 4.
Sunnyside 13 Ironwood Ridge 0 (6 Inn)
Gerardo Grijalva threw 5 shutout innings and went 4-4 at the plate with 3 RBIs to send Sunnyside to a 13-0 mercy rule win over Ironwood Ridge.
Alex Lopez was also 4-4 and drove in 2 runs.
Gilbert 8 Kellis 3
Ryan Meyer threw a complete game with 6 Ks to lead Gilbert to an 8-3 win over Kellis.
Meyer was also 2-4 at the plate with an RBI.
Calvin Davis, Brandon Drew and Jay Evans all had 2 hit games for the Tigers.

Carter Krosky tossed a complete game 5 hit shutout as Sunrise Mountain defeated Sierra Linda 5-0.
Krosky punched out 5 and needed only 67 pitches.
Jarett Kellerhals homered and drove in 2 runs.

Ty Kott tossed a 6 hit shutout with 6 Ks to lead Williams Field to a 3-0 win over Marana.
Cole Tidd was 1-3 with 2 RBIs.
