Vista Grande And Seton Advance in 4A State Tourney
Vista Grande’s Adam Belloc scored the walk off game winner in the bottom of the 9th inning when Saguaro was unable to turn a double play as the Spartans edged the Sabercats 6-5.
Marco Ozuna’s ground ball looked to be a sure-fire inning ending twin killing, but the throw to first was low and the ‘cats couldn’t make the pick.
Ozuna started on the mound for the Spartans and held Saguaro scoreless through 5 innngs. He tossed 6 frames on the night, fanning 8 and allowing only 4 hits and an unearned run.
He was also 1 -5 at the plate but drove in 4 of the Spartan runs.
The Sabercats trailed 3-1 entering the top of the 7th, and tied it up on a Jack Slominski doubled that plated Austin Thurman and Ty Nelson and send it to extras.
Anthony Bolanos, Anthony Garcia and Juan Martinez all had 2 hit games for VG.
Slominski was 3-5 and Joey Harmon 2-5 for Saguaro.
The Spartans will face off with undefeated Salpointe on Wednesday night at Amphitheater High School in the 4A Pool B side of the bracket
Seton Catholic 5 Estrella Foothills 1
Seton Catholic used a 5 run 4th inning to take a 5-1 win over Estrella Foothills.
Luke Bell tossed 6 innings for the Sentinels, allowing only 4 hits and a solo unearned run to earn the W.
Rocco Gump was 3-4 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored to lead the Seton offense.
For EFH, Nate Morgan was 2-2 at the plate and allowed one ru in 3 1/3 innings on the hill with 5 Ks.
Aston Perez was 1-2 with a double.
Seton will face off with Mesquite in the Pool A side of the bracket on Wednesday at Diablo Stadium.
